On the 17th of October 2024 Mrs. Varuni Jayasekara was awarded a Fellowship of the New Era Academy of London. It was presented to her by Ms. Nicky Patching, a Senior Examiner of the New Era Academy in Colombo. In her address to the audience Ms. Patching stated the following:
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I’m honoured to stand before you today to express our heartfelt gratitude to Varuni for her remarkable loyalty and dedication to NEA. As we all know, excellence in drama education is not just about teaching skills; it’s about inspiring creativity, fostering confidence, and nurturing young talent.
Varuni has not only done this but has also been a steadfast supporter of the values and standards that New Era Academy upholds. For years, Varuni has guided countless students through their drama examinations, always with enthusiasm, expertise, and a genuine commitment to helping each one reach their full potential. Your loyalty to our exam board speaks to your trust in the integrity of our assessments and your belief in the importance of high standards in drama education.
Through your hard work, passion, and consistency, you have helped shape the next generation of performers, storytellers, and creatives. Your contribution has not only enhanced the reputation of NEA but also enriched the lives of your students and the wider drama community.
